Embroidery and other Textile Art Workshops
Anyone with an interest in stitch, textures, colours or textiles will enjoy a workshop at Burnbrae. Our workshops are generally suitable for complete beginners in a particular technique through to those with years of experience. Groups are small, some as small as 7, others up to 12, depending on subject matter. Tutors are able to give individuals all the attention they need and other participants are always willing to give assistance and constructive comments. We find that participants form a cohesive group. This is encouraged by a lunch break away from the studio for a light meal around our dining table and perhaps a few minutes chatting in the adjacent conservatory or a wander in the garden. Workshops begin at 10 am and end at 4pm.
Participants in some workshops are offered a choice of designs to work. In others, they are helped to evolve and execute a design which is their own creation. All are encouraged to try something new. Various traditional ways of working textiles, use of modern materials, of beads, of metals and unusual combinations, all of these and more are offered by highly experienced tutors.
