| A Woodland Scene - Alison Holt | £85 |

Tues 31st August & Wed 1st September Create a painted and stitched picture of a woodland scene and explore the painterly elements of free hand machine embroidery using only straight stitch and zigzag. We will outline a design on silk with resist, paint a background with silk dyes and then apply a range of machine embroidery stitch techniques. Students will work from photographs to create a simple woodland scene. I will demonstrate painting and embroidery techniques appropriate for the elements found within a woodland these will include trees, foliage, bluebells and ferns. |

Mon 13th & Tues 14th September Traditional needlework skills will be the focus and inspiration for this workshop which is suitable for beginners as well as those who are more adventurous. During the workshop we shall produce imaginative, contemporary stitched ideas combined with mixed media by exploring familiar traditional techniques such as patching, darning, mending, seams and joins. |

| Contemporary Silk and Gold Or Nue - Tracy Franklin | £85 |

Tues 5th & Wed 6th October During this two day course you will learn the traditional techniques of using colour over gold artistically, inventively and in contemporary style. We will cover different types of couching, as well as adding other gold threads including purls, Pearl purl and other embellishments such as beads, sequins and other jewels. |

Tuesday 3rd. and Wednesday 4th. November. Explore the potential of needle punch ‘embellisher’ machines. Suitable for all levels of experience and structured so that participants may experiment and learn a range of techniques for creating original fabrics and methods of adding surface decoration; beginners will have the opportunity to explore the many possibilities of this exciting new technique. |

We will explore: Making the most of wool fibres with the embellisher. To felt or not to felt? Layering to create exciting new fabrics Tucks and pleats and not a stitch in sight. |

Our tutors are all highly qualified and experienced.
Alison Holt is a textile artist specialising in machine embroidered landscapes on painted silk, working in a painterly style using stitches like brushstrokes. With 25 years teaching experience, she has written 4 books and teaches all over the U.K.
Alison King is a lecturer, teacher and textile artist, combining painting and machine embroidery in her work. She is a member and past chairman of both EDGE Textile Artists Scotland and the Textile Study Group.
Mary Sleigh, author of "African Inspirations in Embroidery" and "Exploring African Themes in Fabric and Stitch", is a leading textile artist, freelance tutor, lecturer and external verifier for City & Guilds.
Pauline Verrinder has taught C&G Embroidery for over 15 years. She is a well known lecturer and tutor/mentor of, amongst others, the Fibrefusion group, producing 4 books with them.
Sheila Smith, author of "Felt to Stitch" and "Embellish, Felt and Stitch", has taught textiles to students of all ages in schools and colleges and now teaches freelance in UK and overseas.
Tracy Franklin trained and taught at the Royal School of Needlework. She now works freelance, teaching, exhibiting and working on commissions. She is author of the book "New Ideas in Goldwork" and co-author of the book "Contemporary Whitework".
