Holiday Cottages in the Scottish Borders
Offering three warm, spacious one-bedroom self-catering holiday cottages and set in an idyllic countryside location, Burnbrae Holidays is located just 3 miles from the Scottish Borders town of Kelso, perfect for self-isolating or exploring both sides of the Scotland / England border.
Due to the temporary COVID-19 lockdown, we are currently closed to guests. We aim to be open from July 3rd as per Scottish Government advice. We are presently taking bookings for stays after 3rd July 2020. If you would like to discuss a booking, please contact me via email or phone. Or if you prefer you can book online.
Thank you for the support from our guests during this unusual time, we hope to see you again soon.
Burnbrae Holiday cottages are ideal for social isolating, as we are on the edge of the hamlet of Nenthorn. To show that we are ready to open to guests we have been awarded the Good to Go from Visit Britain. We are taking extra precautions to prevent the spread of the virus including allowing a day between bookings, a change of duvets and pillows, (as well as bed linen) between guests and extra cleaning as per advice. I have completed an online cleaning training, especially for holiday cottages and the prevention of the spread of the coronavirus. The extra day for servicing has already been blocked out on the display at both ends of current bookings. You may safely book any of the nights which are showing as available. If you prefer we can leave the cottage unlocked for your arrival. We have made some changes to the way we are executing some of the arrival and departure practices, to keep everyone safe at Burnbrae Holiday cottage, please see our terms page if you would like more details.
There are many local walks and cycle routes where you are unlikely to meet anyone due to the low population density, or relax and sit while admiring the wonderful rural views.
Burnbrae Holiday cottages are 3 miles from Kelso with its abbey, cobbled market square and streets. Kelso is noted for its abundance of unique independent shops, delicious restaurants and cafes and pubs (including Scotland first Micropub). Kelso lies at the confluence of the rivers Tweed and Teviot, the Tweed is, of course, famous globally for salmon & trout fishing.
During your stay at Burnbrae, you can enjoy many activities including walking or cycling in the beautiful countryside, either from your cottage or nearby; visit the numerous historic sites including Kelso Abbey, Floors Castle and Mellerstain house, all within 5 miles; enjoy stunning views whilst cycling on the quiet Border roads or go fishing on one of the greatest salmon rivers in Britain. After enjoying a great day out in the Borders, return to peaceful Burnbrae and relax in front of your cosy wood burner stove. Or, you could just admire the views from your south-facing conservatory watching the many birds including woodpeckers, sparrow hawk, buzzards, house and tree sparrows, heron, tits, robins and finches. You may be lucky and see the deer or badgers in our fields or otters in the Eden Water within 500m from the cottages.
For those who haven't visited the beautiful Borders area before, we have put in your cottage an information folder with some suggestions of places to visit and things to do while staying at Burnbrae including ideas for a wet day.
