River Fishing Opportunities
The rivers Teviot, Whiteadder and Blackadder are also close by. Kelso is internationally renowned for its salmon fishing with famous beats like Lower Floors, Junction and Hendersyde all situated within a mile of the town.
The Middle Tweed runs from Lower Floors to Boleside is probably the best combination of good fishing and photogenic scenery. The river is narrower than the Lower section, and the waters faster flowing; the riverbanks are steeper and richly planted with deciduous and coniferous trees. For the fly-fishing enthusiast, the Middle Tweed offers classic fly fishing by wading or from a boat.
The Lower Tweed runs from Tillmouth Park to the famous Junction beat at Kelso. This section of the river flows through some of the finest arable farmland to be found in the Borders and is steeped in salmon angling history. This is a very productive section of the Tweed and provides consistent catches throughout the season, especially in the autumn.
